US Ambassador in Bangladesh Dan W Mozena will start his six-day tour today (Tuesday) to visit Comilla, Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, and Chandpur districts, report agencies.

With the culmination of this trip, Mozena will fulfill his pledge to visit all 64 districts in Bangladesh.

During the visit, Mozena and US Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Janina Jaruzelski will meet local government officials, superintendent of police and civil society members. He will visit some of the cultural and historical sites of the country.

He will also visit Shalban Bihar in Comilla, a women's handicraft project in Basur Haat, and a pottery village.

The outgoing ambassador is visiting districts to what he said: "take America to the people as well as to better understand the diversity of Bangladesh."

The White House has already nominated Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat as his successor.

The US embassy spokesperson earlier said his tenure would end when his "successor is confirmed and ready to arrive in Bangladesh".
