The government is going to make distribution of Monthly Payment Order (MPO) for 26,000 educational institutions online to change the traditional cumbersome process, top officials said, reports BSS.
Those include secondary level schools, colleges, madrasas and technical education institutions.
They said the education ministry took the decision in line with its education policy 2010 that emphasised on decentralisation of education management.
"The education ministry taken decision to make online the distribution of MPO of nine regions - Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong, Comilla, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barisal and Khulna to ensure transparency and accountability and bring dynamism in the process," Education Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan said.
He said a circular in this regard will be issued soon and will come into effect immediately for the online distribution process of MPO of 26,000 educational institutions.
The entire spectrum of online activities will be done in a well-thought-out management plan to remove the bottlenecks and bring transparency, Mr Khan said, adding each educational institution must have a website with a provision to receive online applications.
The existing process to receive hard copy application will also remain, but for a particular period and gradually all functions of distribution of MPO will go on automation, the education secretary said.
Sources said the authorities have distributed responsibility of the field level education officers and teachers of the concerned educational institutions to run smoothly the online MPO distribution process.
The authorities have also taken decision to host the data and information of online MPO distribution in the Data Centre of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).
