The 41st anniversary of death of Mukundalal Sarker, a prominent leader of anti-British movement and a war veteran of 1971, will be observed today (Tuesday), says a statement.
Sarker was born in 1909 at Dharmaryer Bari Village under Muksedpur Upazila of Gopalganj district. During his long political career, he played an important role in building a strong resistance against the imperialist forces and actively participated in the movement against Zamindary system. He was detained for several times for his role against British rule.
To observe the day, special prayers will be offered in the evening today (Tuesday) at the Dhanmondi residence (Flat# 01-B, House# 25, Road#32) of Sarker's younger son senior journalist Ajit Kumar Sarkar.
