Multi-modal treatment possible for cancer patients, seminar told

Speakers at a seminar said that multi-modal treatment including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy is possible for the cancer patients, reports BSS.
Besides, early detection is also important for successful treatment of this disease, they added.
The speakers made the observation while speaking at a seminar on "Advances in Treatment of Cancer" jointly organised by Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital and Parkway Cancer Centre of Singapore at a city hotel Saturday.
Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq was present as the chief guest at the seminar while Ministry of Health joint secretary Ujjal Bikash Dutta presided over the function.
Parkway Cancer Centre, Dhaka liaison office director Zahid Khan delivered the address of welcome.
Gleneagles Hospital of Singapore medical oncologist Dr Foo Kian Fong presented the keynote paper in the seminar.
Surgery and oncologist of Ahsania Mission Cancer Detection Centre and Hospital consultant Dr Harunur Rashid, consultant and radiation oncologist of Mount Elizabeth Hospital of Singapore Dr Li Kim Shang and consultant oncologist of Ahsania Mission Cancer Detection Centre Dr Fazle Elahi also spoke on "Management of Breast Cancer by Surgery,' 'Tomotherapy in Cancer Treatment' and 'Present Status of Cancer Treatment in Bangladesh."
Barrister Rafique-ul Huq requested the Parkway Cancer Centre to come forward with their experience to provide technical support and training for the development of human resources for Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital.
