Muslim devotees under the banner of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and Anti-Discriminatory Qaumi Student Unity Council staged a rally in Baitul Mukarram Mosque area of the capital on Friday after Juma prayers in protest against derogatory remarks made by an Indian Hindu priest against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
They later brought out a procession from Baitul Mukarram Mosque area and ended at the same place after parading Bijoynagar, Kakrail and Shantinagar areas.
They chanted slogans demanding exemplary punishment to the person responsible for delivering derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and hurt the religious sentiment of Islam.
They said they would not accept and tolerate such comments against Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
They also warned that they would also bring out processions today (Saturday) across the country if the accused person was not arrested immediately and awarded exemplary punishment by the Indian government.
They called upon the interim government to convey protest to the Indian government officially.
They said that the ousted Awami League government led by fascist Sheikh Hasina hatched conspiracy to turn Bangladesh into an Indian subservient state over the last 10 and half decades.
