Mystery shrouds REB engineer\\\'s death in city

The death of an engineer of Rural Electrification Board (REB) Thursday after falling from his office building at Khilkhet in the city is shrouded in mystery, reports BSS.
The victim is ABM Abu Abdullah, 54, a superintendent engineer of REB, son of Abdur Rahim, a resident of Tajmahal Road under Mohammadpur thana. He hailed from Kandail under Karimganj thana of Kishoreganj district.
Abdullah died on the spot after falling from the 10-storied REB building around 11.45am, officer-in-charge of Khilkhet thana Md Nazrul Islam told BSS.
The cause behind the death could not be known immediately, he said adding that nothing could be said without conducting investigation.
Abdullah, who was posted at Rangpur, went on a two months leave, came to Khilkhet office on the day to complete the procedure to join the office again, he also said.
Besides, Abdullah has been suffering from tuberculosis (TB) for long, he said quoting family inmates.
Some of his colleagues alleged that he (Abdullah) might have committed suicide jumping from REB building out of frustration over his transfer.  Filing of a case in this connection is underway.
