Manchester City Council, UK awarded Syeda Nahrin Choudhury Saki for shaping the community for better life. Saki became 2nd finalist to receive the award, said a press release.
The award ceremony was held at the Town Hall in Manchester City recently, which was attended, among others, by the Lord Mayor of Manchester and other dignitaries. She was also awarded MBE (Member of the British Empire) by Her Royal Highness, the Queen in 2012 in recognition of her commendable social service for the immigrant children. Saki, is the wife of late Zahirul Haque Choudhury, former director of Research of the UK Immigration Advisory Service (UKIAS) and younger sister of noted social scientist, writer and founder chairman of Centre for Development Research, Bangladesh (CDRB) Dr Mizanur Rahman Shelley.
