National Eidgah ready for Eid Jamaat after two years

National Eidgah is almost ready for holding Eid prayers after a two- year hiatus due to the Covid-19 related restrictions in the country.

The main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, will be held at 8:30 am. Dignitaries and VIPS of the country are expected to join the congregation.

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is finalising the preparation at Eidgah next to the High Court.

DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh visited the venue on Saturday to see himself the progress.

"We have completed all necessary preparations to hold Eid prayers for the city's people after two years," he told the media.

Different law enforcement agencies are also working to ensure the security of people, he added.

"I invite Dhaka people to offer Eid prayers here and wish them Eid Mubarak in advance," he said.

Around 35,000 devotees will be able to take part in Eid congregation at National Eidgah at a time, said the mayor.

DSCC Chief Executive Officer Farid Ahmed, Secretary Kamruzzaman, Chief Waste Management Officer Sitwat Naim, and Chief Engineer Saleh Ahmed were also present.
