Nat'l Agriculture Day observed at Faridpur

FARIDPUR Nov 22: 'National Agriculture Day' (Nabanno Utsab) was observed here. A discussion meeting on the occasion was held recently at Kabi Jasimuddin hall ground jointly organised by the district administration and Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Akteruzzman Md Mostafa Kamal addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while Yesmin Afsana, chief executive officer of Faridpur Zila Parishad, Md Manjurul Anower, deputy chief (planning) of the Agricultural Ministry were present as special guests with Md Shah Alam, deputy director of the DAE in the chair.
Journalist Md Shahjahan, NGO leader Asma Akter Mukta, and farmer Saken Matuber spoke on the occasion.
The DC said, farmers were the saints of agriculture. We must emphasise on ensuring the food security and apply the sustainable technology in this sector.
The DC also inaugurated the harvesting of Aman paddy at Sadar Upazila.
Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out in the district town.
