The 115th birth anniversary of the national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, will be observed on May 25. Elaborate programmes have been taken in this regard, reports BSS.
The theme of this year's celebrations is 'Nazrul and non-communalism'.
The main programme of the day will be held at Darirampur High School in Trishal Upazila of Mymensingh. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhit will be the chief guest, while Religious Affairs' Minister Matiur Rahman will be the special guest. Minister for Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor will chair the session.
On that day the cultural affairs minister will place bouquets at the poet's graveyard on the Dhaka University premises at 6:45 am. Shilpakala Academy and Nazrul Institute will organise cultural programmes at Shilpakala Academy.
Nazrul Institute will organise three-day programmes on May 25-28.
On May 24 Bangla Academy will organise a discussion and cultural programme at its Nazrul Academy podium at 4:30 pm.
