NBR recognises contributions of officials to innovation


The National Board of Revenue (NBR) at a programme styled 'Innovation Showcasing' held on Thursday handed over crests and certificates of honour to officials working in different entities under its control.
Customs House Benapole got laurels for its innovation of a piece of software meant for office management.
The Bangladesh Customs Office Managemnt (BCOM) software fetched laurels for Md Azizur Rahman, commissioner of customs bond commissionerate, Dhaka North, Dr Md Neyamul Islam, First secretary, customs exemption and project facilities, HM Ahsanul Kabir, second secretary, customs export and bond, Akteruzzaman, programmer of NBR, Md Nazmul Islam, assistant programmer, and SM Robiuzzaman, revenue officer of customs, excise and VAT commissionerate, Rajshahi.
On the other hand, Tax Commissioner Md Abul Mansur, Joint Commissioner Md Zahedul Islam and Deputy Commissioner Dipok Kumar Paul were honoured for their role in indentifying new taxpayers using secondary data in a bid to expand the tax net.
Ariful Huq, joint commissioner of tax appeal zone, Dhaka-3, received laurels for his innovation in automating fee payment on appeal, tribunal and alternative dispute resolution.
Hossain Ahmed, member (customs audit, modernization and international trade), Md Al-Amin, joint commissioner of Dhaka custom house, Dr Neyamul Islam, first secretary of customs exemption and project facilities and Md Shahidul Islam, section assistant of customs exemption and project assistance wing, were also acclaimed for their role in full-fledged automation of file management.
SM Galib Faruk, deputy commissioner of Tax Zone Rangpur, was honoured for his innovation-disseminating information through the WhatsApp community announcement system.
Abu Syed Md Mustak, tax commissioner, tax zone-5, Md Zafor Imam, joint commissioner, and Md Mazharul Huq Bhuiyan, deputy commission of tax zone-5, shared honour for their innovation on exchanging information on e-TDS taxpayers through a WhatsApp community.
For automating diplomatic bond system, six officials of Dhaka bond commissionerate were honoured.
The officials are Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, commissioner, customs risk management commissionerate, Dhaka, AKM Zahid Hossain, System Manager (retired), NBR, Kazi Raihanuzzaman, second secretary, WCO affairs, programmers Zakir Hossain and Shamimul Alam and assistant programmer Monirul Islam.
