New BTRC chief visits BTCL sites in Ctg

Zia Ahmed, newly-appointed chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Thursday visited various sites of Bangladesh Telecom Company Limited (BTCL) and Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd (BSCCL) as part of his two-day tour to Chittagong and Cox's Bazar, said a press release.

He visited the BTRC monitoring station at Kalurghat and the central exchange and submarine cable connection and point of interconnection at Nandankanon in Chittagong.

He also attended a view exchange meeting with the local administration Thursday evening on the telecom watchdog's initiative to organise 'World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2009' in the port city.

He is due to visit submarine landing station today (Friday) at Cox's Bazar, added the press release.
