Sayeeful Islam, Managing Director, Concorde Garments Group, has been elected as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh at its Board meeting held recently, said a press release.
He will now work as National Chairman, National Award Authority Bangladesh under The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.
Born on 22 May, 1953, Mr Islam is a chemical engineer and a businessman.
A past President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), he is a successful entrepreneur and has expanded business toward garments manufacturer and textile, i. e., readymade garments, information technology, community activity etc.
He is a former Honorary Consul of Brazil in Bangladesh and Designated Commercially Important Person (CIP) for outstanding contributions to the export of the country.
Besides his professional activities he has been an active member of the civil society. He is the Founder Secretary of the American Alumni association and also the Founder Secretary and subsequently President of Gulshan Society.
He has officiated as the Chairman of a number of high schools in Munshiganj district. He was the host of a number of TV talk shows and appears frequently as a guest in highly rated late night talk shows in the role of a business and civil society leader.
Apart from him the past National Chairman Mirza Salman Ispahani, who is also Managing Director, M M Ispahani Ltd, became Honorary Secretary and Abrar A. Anwar, CEO, Standard Chartered Bangladesh became Treasurer for the Foundation.
