New generation to be made efficient in modern edn : Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Thursday the new generation will have to be made efficient in modern education by changing the conventional academic curricula, reports BSS.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar organised by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Maritime University (BSMRMU), the first of its kind in the country ,at a city hotel .
The education minister said a qualitative change in conventional education is required for building a modern, science-based and technology-dependent digital Bangladesh.
Knowledge and efficiency are required to build efficient manpower keeping pace with the developed world, he added.
The seminar on 'Global Maritime Challenges and Role of Maritime Higher Education in Bangladesh' was attended by Naval Chief Vice Admiral M. Farid Habib, Shipping Secretary Syed Manzurul Islam and Maritime University Vice-Chancellor Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten as the special guests.
Mariner Captain Kazi Ali Imam presented a paper on the huge opportunities in maritime sector.
Nurul Islam Nahid said the country's assets have increased following the demarcation of marine boundaries.
The speakers expressed the hope that Bangabandhu Maritime University would play an important role in the country's development.
