High Commission of India in Dhaka opened Thursday a new Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in city's Dhanmondi to cater for the growing needs of the visa applicants.
Acting High Commissioner of Indian HC in Dhaka Sandeep Chakravorty inaugurated the new IAVC in presence of State Bank of India Country Head Pinak Chakarborty.
Senior officials from Indian High Commission and State Bank of India were also present at the function.
State Bank of India (SBI), the authorised agent of the High Commission of India for accepting Indian visa applications through the IVAC, will receive and deliver visa applications from the new IVAC location in Dhanmondi.
All IVACs receive all categories of visa applications. The IVAC facilities are now available in Gulshan, Motijheel and Dhanmondi (new) in capital Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi.
Talking to reporters after the inauguration, Sandeep Chakravorty said the visa operation of Bangladesh is perhaps the biggest operation in the world. And this is the 7th IVAC in Bangladesh.
It will accept the applications from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and deliver visas from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Applicants should ensure that all documentation is genuine, complete and accurate.
Applicants are advised to be vigilant about agents and middlemen and to report all such cases to the nearest police station/law enforcement authority.
A special counter for Medical Emergency Visas is available at IVAC, Gulshan. Medical emergency visa applications may be deposited on a walk-in basis at IVAC Gulshan, Dhaka even without an appointment date.
