The bodies of two unidentified people, including one of a woman, were recovered from the streets of the capital on Thursday and Wednesday, police said. Paltan police recovered the body of a 55-year-old woman from in front of Gulistan Sheikh Russell Roller Skating Complex on Thursday morning while Shahbagh police recovered the body of a 45-year-old man from in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday evening. — UNB

Two minor children

drown in Sylhet

SYLHET, July 14: Two minor children drowned in a pond at Kamargaon village in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Sumayel Ahmad, 5, son of Patir Ahmad, and Jakia Sultana, 4, daughter of Fusba Begum. Quoting locals, SM Mayeen Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Osmaninagar police station, said the two children drowned in the pond while they were taking bath at noon. Later, the relatives and locals recovered the bodies from the pond. An unnatural death case was filed with the police station, the OC added. — UNB
