Man’s body found in Jashore
A 30-year-old man's body was recovered from Khanpur union at Manirampur upazila of Jashore on Friday. The dead is Jahangir Alam, son of former member of Kulatia Union Parishad (UP) Nurul Islam of the upazila. Sheikh Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Manirampur thana, confirmed the matter. The victim's father-in-law, Mafizur Rahman, a member of Khanpur UP, said he had a conversation with Jahangir over his mobile phone around 1:30 am on Friday when he was on the way home from Dhaka by bus. Jahangir could not be reached over the phone despite repeated attempts since the morning, he said. Being informed by the locals in the morning, they found the body lying by Satnal Jhora Bridge under the Khanpur UP, the father-in-law said.

Robbers kill night guard
Robbers have killed a night guard and stolen a substantial amount of jewellery from two gold shops at Chaprashirhat Poshchim Bazar in Kabirhat upazila of Noakhali The dead is Shahid Ullah (50), hailing from Char Gullakhali village in the upazila. Local people said the incident occurred when a gang of robbers entered the market in the early hours of Friday and looted 250 bhori of gold, 150 bhori of silver and Tk 0.25 million in cash from Nur Jewellers and Ma-Moni Jewellers after killing the night guard of the marketplace by beating him with the sharp weapon. — BSS
