Fire guts poultry farm with 1,200 chickens in Ctg
A poultry farm with 1,200 chickens has been gutted in a fire at Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram. The fire broke out at Kamal Hossain's poultry farm in Ward-2 of East Kalurghat area of the upazila on Friday morning. On information, members of the Boalkhali Fire Service rushed to the spot. But before the could reach, the entire farm was burnt to ashes. "My poultry farm was gutted in a fire around 4:00 am. There were 1,200 chickens in this farm. Everything was burnt to ashes. — UNB

One crushed under wheels of train in Jashore
A 52-year-old man died after being crushed under the wheels of a speeding train at Nawapara rail station of Jashore on Thursday afternoon, said a railway police official. The dead, Sheikh Faruq Hossain, was an accounts manager of Sidlu Jute Mill in Jashore's Nowapara and son of Sheikh Golam Hossain of Tutpara of Khulna city. Anamul Haq, in-charge of Government Railway Police (GRP) in the Nowapara station, said the accident happened around 4:00 pm when the victim went under the wheels of the Khulna-bound Sundarbans Express train while trying to get on the running train in the station. — UNB

Minor boy drowns in Satkhira pond
A three-year-old boy drowned in a pond in Chaubaria village under Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira on Friday. The dead, Ibrahim Hossain,was son of Oman expatriate Shariful Islam, who returned home one week back, in the village under Bharashimla union. The victim's family said the boy was playing in their yard after having breakfast in the morning. The child fell into the water body in the absence of family members. – UNB
