Film actor Rubel, 11 others

injured in road accident

MADARIPUR, Nov 16: Actor Masum Parvej Rubel, a familiar name in Bangla cinema, and 11 others were injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Barishal highway on Saturday. The accident occurred when a passenger bus--Global Paribahan--hit their microbus at around 11 am near Samaddar Bridge in Rajoir upazila on the highway. After the accident, they were taken to Madaripur Sadar Hospital where they received treatment. Sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman of Mostofapur Highway Police said actor Masum Parvej Rubel, 60, a popular name in Bangla cinema in 1990s, was going to Amtoli upazila of Barguna district by the microbus along with eight others. — BSS

KUET admission tests

to begin on January 11

KHULNA, Nov 16: The admission tests for the first-year honours at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) for the 2024-25 academic session are set to begin on January 11, 2025, says a KUET press release. The decision was taken at the KUET Academic Council meeting, said the release, adding that other necessary information regarding admission tests will be through circular. — BSS
