Two BG Press employees arrested
over BCS question leak
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested two employees of BG Press for their alleged involvement in leaking questions of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination. The arrestees are Md Majnu Mia, 59, a porter at BG Press, and Md Akram Hossain, 47, a binder. Speaking on Wednesday, Azad Rahman, Special Superintendent of CID (Media), said Majnu Mia was arrested from Shewrapara in Mirpur on Tuesday night, while Akram Hossain was detained early Wednesday from the BG Press area. — UNB
Dhaka's air quality 'very unhealthy'
Dhaka, the densely populated capital of Bangladesh, continues to gasp for fresh air as the city ranks the world's fourth most polluted city on Wednesday. Dhaka's air quality index (AQI) score was recorded at 217 at 08:50am on Wednesday, which is considered 'very unhealthy'. — UNB
Man arrested with 9,900 Yaba pills
Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a drive arrested a suspected drug dealer with 9,900 pieces of Yaba pills worth Tk 2.9 million (29.7 lakh) in Pragati Sarani area of the city's Baridhara on Tuesday. The arrestee was identified as Md Harun-Or-Rashid, 53. A media statement sent from DB reads the drive was conducted after being tipped-off about an illegal drug haul in the area. A case was registered against Harun and the absconding Md. Monir Hossain with Bhatara Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. — UNB
