Dhaka's air most polluted in the world
Dhaka, the overcrowded capital of Bangladesh, has topped the list of cities worldwide with the worst air quality with an AQI score of 281 at 9:07 am on Saturday. Dhaka's air was classified as 'very unhealthy', according to the air quality and pollution city ranking. Pakistan's Lahore, India's Delhi and Afghanistan's Kabul occupied the next three spots, with AQI scores of 216, 179 and 178, respectively. — UNB

Chuadanga records country's lowest temperature at 8.7°C
Country's lowest temperature of 8.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga district on Saturday morning amid mild to moderate cold wave sweeping parts of the country. Jaminur Rahman, acting in-charge of Chuadanga Weather Observatory Center, said they have recorded 8.7 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Saturday. He also said that the temperature might drop further. The shivering cold disrupted the normal life of people, especially the daily wage earners in the district. The sun remains invisible till 12 pm. — UNB

Newborn found on the street
in Shaheed Minar area dies
Police have recovered a day-old baby wrapped in cloth inside a polythene bag on the footpath in front of the Central Shaheed Minar on the Dhaka University campus. The baby, found in an unconscious state, was rushed to the Emergency Department at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 11:00 am on Saturday, where a doctor declared them dead. "Dogs were fighting over the newborn, which was wrapped in cloth inside a polythene bag," said Sub Inspector Mohidul Islam from Shahbagh Police Station.
