GST 'B' unit admission
test held at IU
The 'B' unit admission test under the General Science and Technology (GST) cluster system for the 2025-26 academic session was held at Islamic University (IU) on Friday. A total of 93,158 candidates, including 9,133 for the IU centre, registered for the 'B' unit admission test this year. However, 7,929 turned up for the entry test at the IU centre. The one-hour examination was conducted from 11:00am to 12:00pm in seven buildings on the campus. Seat plan banners and directional signs were placed at different points for the convenience of the examinees. — UNB
Coast Guard seizes
illegal fishing nets
The Bangladesh Coast Guard, in a joint operation at Baharchhara in Teknaf, seized a huge quantity of illegal fishing nets worth around Tk 1.18 billion (118 crore). Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon disclosed the information this noon. He said acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising Coast Guard Station Teknaf, Baharchhara Outpost and the Department of Fisheries conducted a drive at Shamlapur Bazar under Baharchhara Union of Teknaf Police Station from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on April 2. — BSS
Man dies after attack over
land dispute in Lalmonirhat
LALMONIRHAT, Apr 03: A man, who was injured in an attack allegedly by his uncles over a land dispute in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat on Thursday, died at a hospital on Friday. Akhtaruzzaman, son of Rafiqul Islam of Purba Fakirpara village under Fakirpara union of the upazila, succumbed to his injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Locals said Akhtaruzzaman had long been in dispute with his uncles over the share of homestead his grandmother left them. The conflict escalated on Thursday afternoon when his uncles allegedly attacked him with sticks, leaving him critically injured. — UNB
Biker killed in Feni road crash
FENI, Apr 03: A 20-year-old man was killed in a road accident on the Daganbhuiyan-Feni regional highway in Daganbhuiyan upazila on Thursday night. Deceased Mohammad Antar, son of Ekramul Haque of Midda Bari under Charkankara union of Noakhali's Companiganj upazila, was riding his motorcycle when the accident occurred. Locals said amid the fuel shortage in Companiganj, Antar left home in the afternoon to collect petrol from Feni for his motorcycle. On his way back, an unknown vehicle crashed into his bike in the Enayetbhuiyan area around 8:30pm, leaving him seriously injured. — UNB
Two robbers held in Sundarbans
KHULNA, Apr 03: Two active members of notorious "Chhoto Jahangir Bahini" were arrested with arms and ammunition in two separate drives conducted by the Bangladesh Coast Guard in the Sundarbans, while three abducted fishermen were rescued from another pirate group. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon disclosed the information on Friday. Acting on a tip-off that members of the outlawed gang were took position near Baintala Khal under Dacope upazila of Khulna, a special operation was carried out at around 6 am today by Coast Guard Base Mongla and Outpost Nalian. — BSS

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 03: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) in Chattogram has arrested Md. Moshiur Rahman (60), an accused in a murder case, from the city's Gate No. 2 Rail Bit area on Thursday. The arrest was made based on secret information regarding his involvement in the murder case at Sitakunda Police Station. Moshiur Rahman, son of Kazi Golam Hasan from Solimpur Union, was identified as the absconding accused No. 4 in the Sitakunda Police Station Case No. 13 dated October 5, 2025, under Section-302/34 of the Penal Code 1860. — BSS
