Van driver beaten to death in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Apr 10 (UNB): A van driver was allegedly beaten to death following a trivial dispute in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi on Friday. The deceased was identified as Alam Ali, 43, son of Md Ashraf, a resident of Belgachhi village in the upazila. The incident occurred at around 08:30 am in front of Pathak Club in the East Para area of Belgachhi. According to local sources, the accused, Mojibur Rahman, signalled a moving van to stop. — UNB

Youth kills mother in Khulna

KHULNA, Apr 10: A woman died after her son struck her with a stick in Khan Mohammadpur village in Rupsha upazila in Khulna district on Friday. Victim Mimmi Begum, 44, was the wife of Hamidul Islam of the village. The accused was identified as Nadim Islam, aged around 30. The incident took place at around 08:00 am over family feud, said Md Ujjal Hossain, in-charge of Aichgati police camp in the upazila. — UNB

SYLHET, Apr 10: A Bangladeshi young man has been shot to death by members of the Indian Khasi community along the Companiganj border in Sylhet, officials said. The incident occurred at around 08:30 pm on Thursday in a betel nut grove along the border. The deceased was identified as Saleh Ahmed Joydhar, 30, a resident of Karbalar Tuk village in the upazila, according to a press release issued by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Sylhet Battalion-48, signed by its Commanding Officer Lt Col Md Nazmul Haque, Friday. — UNB
