DUJA annual seminar held
An annual seminar of the Dhaka University Journalist Association (DUJA) was held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the University of Dhaka (DU) on Friday. DU Vice Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest. Associate Professor of DU of department of the International Relations Dr Tanjimuddin Khan delivered the keynote paper at the seminar. This year the topic of the seminar is "University of Dhaka on the way to 100-Year: Achievements in Higher Education and Expectations". DIU'13th anniversary today
The Daffodil International University (DIU) will observe its 13th founding anniversary with a gala on its permanent campus at Ashulia Model Town today (Saturday). Member of Parliament of Dhaka -19 Dr Md Enamur Rahman will be present on the occasion as the chief guest. New UGC chairman places wreaths at Bangabandhu's grave
Newly appointed chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Abdul Mannan paid homage to father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, placing wreaths at his Mazar in Tungipara on Friday. Vice-chancellor of Chittagong University Prof M Anwarul Azim Arif, Member of Senate and Syndicate Professor Dr Sourendra Nath Biswas and Mayor of Tungipara Municipality Elias Hossain were also present on the occasion. —Press release
IJC offers six-month photojournalism course
Institute of Journalism and Communication (IJC), a media think tank, is going to launch a six-month professional photojournalism programme in Dhaka on June 30 next for those interested in press photography. During the period, there will be 48 classes in the programme on various topics of photography, including the concept of photojournalism, its modern trend and history, said a press release on Friday. The course also includes field work and internship at different media outlets on its completion so that the participants can comfortably take photography as their career. German embassy, News Network sign deal
News Network and German Embassy have signed an agreement to implement a project aiming to improve the professional capacity of journalists of both the print and electronic media to effectively address climate change issues. With the German support, News Network will organise several training workshops on Bangladesh's climate change-affected zones, says a press release. Soon after signing the agreement, Roswitha Amels, First Secretary and Head of Development Cooperation of the embassy, handed over a cheque of the fund to Editor and Chief Executive of the News Network Shahiduzzaman. —UNB
