Nine camel jockeys get compensation

NOAKHALI, June 26 (UNB): Nine children of the district, used as camel jockeys in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), received Tk 0.93 million as compensation.
Deputy Commissioner M Habibul Kabir Chowdhury, at a simple ceremony held at the conference room of the DC's office Monday, distributed cheques for the amount, given by the UAE government, among the children.
Of the nine, four children belong to a same family from Companyganj Upazila while four from Sadar and one from Begumganj Upazila.
Some 168 Bangladeshi children have been brought back to the country from the middle eastern country recently by the Govern-ment, UNICEF and Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Asso-ciation (BNWLA).
