Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu Monday said imposition of further ban on telecasting fake advertisements injurious for public health in media would be possible after formulation of "National Broadcasting Policy-2014", reports BSS.
"We have already directed the private TV channels to refrain from telecasting advertisement of illegal products or medicine for the sake of public health," he said.
Replying to a question from Md Abdullah (Luxmipur-4), the Minister informed the Jatiya Sangsad that works on formulation of "National Broadcasting Policy- 2014" is now at its final stage.
Giving details, he said there is no advertisement policy for the private TV channels in the country, but there is a specific restriction in the "National Drug Policy, 2005" not to mislead people by telecasting commercial advertisements on medicine and health related matters.
In this connection, he said that the state owned Bangladesh television has a specific advertisement policy.
