No difference between bribery and begging

FE REPORT | October 02, 2019 00:00:00

The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Iqbal Mahmood on maintained on Tuesday that there is no basic difference between bribery and begging.

"The people who think the incidents of bribery will not be exposed are living in the fool's paradise; and there is no difference in asking for bribe and alms," he said.

He made the remarks at a workshop for ACC officials on 'Official discipline, security, secrecy of work and organisational behaviour' organised at the commission Segunbagicha headquarters in the city, according to an ACC press release.

The ACC chief said the work of the ACC officials has to be specific, scalable, achievable, relevant and time-bound to make the commission a smart organisation.

He said the code of conducts of the ACC should reflect in the work and behaviour its officials to ensure honesty, transparency and accountability of the organisation.

Mr Mahmood said there should not be any loophole in the data management of inquiry and investigation of the anti-graft authority so that the criminals cannot access information related to investigation.

Around 30 assistant directors and deputy assistant directors participated in the workshop.
