Non-judicial stamps scarce in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Dec 13: The scarcity of judicial, non-judicial stamps is hampering land registration and other judicial work here.
Mohammad Mohiuddin (35), of the district had to buy non-judicial stamps at very high prices against the government price.
The vendors said they are not getting the necessary non-judicial stamps after depositing money with the government treasury. They also said that they were to collect the stamps from various sources at high prices.
The charging of extra money for selling of non-judicial stamp is nothing new. Some two years ago this kind of crisis appeared in the local market, source said.
Faridpur Vendor Samity President Ashok Datta said that it was illegal if any vendor claimed extra money for selling stamps. He had asked the district administration to ensure quick supply of stamps.
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC general) ATM Nasir Miah said that we ordered vendors to take the original price of stamps.
UNB from Jhenidah adds, land registration is being hampered in the Jhenidah district due to acute scarcity of non-judicial stamps.
Sources said the non-judicial stamps are being sold at exorbitant prices against the government price in all six upazilas of the district.
Local people complained that they are buying non-judicial stamps of Tk 50 at Tk 100-150. Moreover, the non-judicial stamps of Tk 150 are being sold at Tk 350-400.

Local leaders have urged the government to ensure supply of non-judicial stamps in the district so that the people can get stamps at the fixed rate.
