Noor expresses disappointment over current teaching method

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor has once again expressed disappointment over the education system, saying parents are pressing children for perfect grade, which is quelling their extracurricular activities, reports BSS.
Noor, who is also an actor and reciter, said the children were undergoing 'GPA-5 torture'.
He expressed disappointment over the current teaching method while reminiscing about his childhood at the Second National Language Festival 2015.
"Today's teaching method is very complicated. The children are pulled from the bed to the schools early in the morning, at 7am. Then they return with a load of homework," Noor said.
"They cannot even play, learn music, read poems, or paint due to the pressure of homework. They face the GPA-5 torture when they grow," he added. The minister said he spoke to many guardians over the matter.
"When I ask them if they watch cricket, they say they do. Whom they like the most? They say Shakib Al Hasan. I tell them to ask Shakib if he secured GPA-5," Noor said.
He said he also gave the example of singer-turned politician Momotaz Begom.
"If you consider wealth as the yardstick of success, then she (Momotaz) charges at least Tk 500,000 for a programme. Does someone ask whether Momotaz got GPA-5?" he asked. He also said Rabindranath Tagore did not get GPA-5.
