Normal life disrupted in N-districts

RANGPUR, Dec 22 (BSS): Normal life and traffic movement partially being affected as biting cold coupled with dense fog continued sweeping over the northern districts in the sub-Himalayan region for the past eighth consecutive day today.
Though the minimum and maximum temperatures marked little rise during the past 24 hours until this noon, but the weather remained almost unchanged. The day-labourers and farm workers were working in foggy weather in the crop fields but the movements of vehicles on roads and highways had partially been disrupted as thick layers of fog reduced the visibility.
The vehicles were found plying with their headlights on to avert accidents almost throughout the day as in the past one week in the region.
The sun remained blanketed by thick layers of clouds and fogs leaving the public places deserted to some extent in Rangpur and adjoining northern districts.
Sufferings of the people living in char villages on the river basins mounted due to blowing of cooler winds from the north and northwestern directions.
