Nor\\\'wester affects 17,000 families

MYMENSINGH, Apr 20 (BSS): Over 17,000 families in 46 unions under six upazilas of the district were badly affected by the Saturday's Nor'wester.

The upazilas are My-mensingh Sadar, Muktagcha, Phulbaria, Gafargaon, Bhaluka and Trishal, according to the assessment made by district administration.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has distributed 12 metric tonnes of rice among the affected families in six Nor'wester-hit upazilas of the district and Taka 10,000 each among the badly affected families.

Sources said three persons were killed and 85 others injured in house collapses.

Nor'wester damaged dwelling houses, educational institutions, Boro crops, vegetables and uprooted many trees and electric poles in the affected areas.
