Novelta-DU deal to develop vaccine strains against virus

Novelta Bestway Pharmaceuticals Ltd (NBPL) has joined hand with Dhaka University (DU) to develop appropriate vaccine strains against a fatal virus in the country.

To work jointly, the NBPL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microbiology Department of the university. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the office of the DU vice chancellor (VC).     

NBPL Managing Director Mollick Mahmood Hossain and DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions, a media release said.

DU VC Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Microbiology Department Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman and senior officials of both the organisations were, among others, present on the occasion.

Under the industry-academia collaboration programme, both the institutions will work for constant monitoring of foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) to indentify the variants, development of appropriate vaccine strains and methods for virus identification.
