NU division-level Star Hunt contest begins today

The division level competition of 'National University (NU) Star Hunt' begins from today (Saturday) at the six divisional cities of the country.
The competition of Dhaka and Chittagong divisions will be held on the premises of Mirpur College and Chittagong College respectively at 10:00 am today.
The competitors of Sylhet and Barisal divisions have been asked to attend their divisional competition to be held on August 4 at MC College and BM College respectively.
NU-affiliated colleges of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions will organise their divisional competition August 11 respectively at Rajshahi College and BL College.
The competition will be held on seven events featuring debate, modern songs, patriotic songs, Tagore songs, Nazrul songs, folk songs, and hard dance.
A five-member committee comprising two experts from local Shilpakala Academy, one renowned local singer, one college teacher and an NU official will appraise the performances of the competitors.
Eminent music director Sheikh Saadi Khan will also supervise the competition at the division levels.
NU Pro-Vice Chancellor Syed Rashidul Hasan at a view-exchanging meeting in the city Thursday said that some 4,500 students from about 1700 NU-allied colleges from across the country took part in the competition at district levels from which 337 competitors have been selected for the competition at division levels. Some 21 competitors, who will secure the first, second and third position at the seven events of the division level competition, will avail full free studentship at their respective colleges, the Pro-VC said.
NU deputy registrar Shahidur Rahman, exam controller Md Ibrahim, finance and planning director Md Shahabuddin and higher education affairs dean Sher Mohammad, among others, were present on the occasion.
