NU steps to decentralise admn, remove academic gridlock

The National University (NU) announced Wednesday a set of measures including effective decentralisation of its administrative functions and introduction of ICT- based monitoring for bringing the existing academic gridlock to zero level.
The measures also include developing special software for evaluating answer scripts, preparing results electronically, publishing the results within three months after exams and digital communication among the affiliated colleges.
NU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid announced the new academic action plan through a press briefing in the capital Wednesday.
The university's Pro-vice Chancellor Prof Munaz Ahmed Noor, Treasurer Prof Noman ur Rashid, Controller (in charge) Badruzzaman, Prof Dr Shamsuddin Elias, among others, attended the press meet.
The university authorities came up with the fresh initiative when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep concern with the functioning of the university and suggested decentralisation of the university's administrtation bringing under the regional public universities.
