Abu Abdullah Jahangir, a freedom fighter and an engineer, died of cancer at a hospital Devon of England on Wednesday night at the age of 65.
He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for last seven months.
He left behind his wife, one son and two daughters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
A resident of Basabo area, Abdullah Jahangir was one of the youngest freedom fighters during the Liberation War in 1971 and fought in sector-2 of Aziz Group under the guidance of martyred Alauddin.
He went to the UK in 1974 as a student of BSc Civil Engineering and completed MSc and MBA in Chartered Civil and Structural Engineering before working for Camden, Wandsworth and Redbridge Council.
Abdullah Jahangir was the chief engineer of Haringey Council and designed many iconic landmarks, including Euston underpass and flyover over famous North Circular Road.
He will be buried in Exeter Cemetery after Jumma prayers.
