Obituary----

AGM Shamsul Kamal, first Chief Executive Officer of Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE), passed away on Friday night, says a press release.

Mr. Kamal was a visionary leader who laid the strong foundation of CSE. Together with the then Founder President and former Commerce Minister, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, he encouraged leading businessmen from various regions of the country to become members of CSE. Their efforts brought prominent business figures onboard who led the growth of CSE.

Under his leadership, CSE emerged as a dynamic capital market in Bangladesh. He launched the first automated trading system, initiated the establishment of Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), and relocated the CSE office to its own premises. He worked diligently to establish good governance at CSE.
