SYLHET, Dec 22 (UNB): A total of 305 cases have been filed against CNG-run auto-rickshaws with Osmaninagar Police Station in the last six days until Monday after its officer-in-charge died of cardiac arrest during a clash between two groups of transport workers.
Additional police super of Sylhet Rawshanuzzaman Siddiqui said the cases have been filed as the three-wheelers lack valid documents.
Besides, some 44 people were arrested during the period in connection with the death of OC Mustafizur Rahman, he said, adding that they were sent to jail after showing them arrested in the murder case filed over the incident.
Besides, a three-member committee, led by Rawshanuzzaman, has been formed to look into the incident.
Meanwhile, auto-rickshaw workers have threatened to keep their three-wheelers off road across the district from December 26 if the harassment of innocent drivers by police is not stopped by December 25.
President of Sylhet Auto-rickshaw Workers' Union Sundar Khan said dissident worker leader Piar Ali and 24 others have been expelled over the clash.
