One dengue death, one Covid case logged

The country on Saturday reported one dengue-related death and one new Covid-19 case in the country within a 24-hour period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the DGHS, the lone Covid-19 infection was identified from 110 samples tested between 8am on Friday and 8am on Saturday, yielding a positivity rate of 0.91 per cent. No deaths from Covid-19 were recorded during this time, keeping the total fatality count since March 2020 unchanged at 29,526.

Meanwhile, the mosquito-borne dengue virus claimed another life, raising this year's death toll to 62. A total of 394 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country during the same 24-hour window.

Among them, Barishal division saw the highest number of admissions with 161 cases, followed by Dhaka division (58), Rajshahi (58), Dhaka South City Corporation (41), Dhaka North City Corporation (24), Chattogram (38), Khulna (8), and Mymensingh (6).
