Bangladesh recorded one death from dengue and 110 fresh hospitalisations across the country in the last 24 hours ending Monday morning.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest death was reported outside the city corporation area of Khulna division, raising the nationwide cumulative dengue death toll to six since January 1 this year.
Of the newly admitted patients, 35 were from Barishal division, 21 from Khulna, and 15 from Dhaka division (excluding city corporations). The two city corporations in the capital, DSCC and DNCC, registered 12 and one cases respectively.
With these fresh infections, the total number of dengue cases recorded this year has reached 3,307.
Currently, 163 patients remain undergoing treatment in various hospitals nationwide, while 3,138 individuals have been successfully discharged, according to the DGHS bulletin.
BSS reports: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain on Monday said the government has taken all kinds of preparations to combat dengue.
"As one or two dengue patients are being found every day and dengue usually occurs during this period, we do not want to waste any time. We are taking all-out preparations to tackle it," he said.
The minister made the remarks at a meeting held at the ministry's conference room at the Secretariat on possible measures to combat dengue. Mentioning that dengue corners are being set up at upazila health centres, he said a field hospital is ready on the campus of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to provide treatment to infected patients.
Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain chaired the meeting where State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr M A Muhith, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Additional Director General Prof Dr. Zahid Raihan, Director (Hospital) Dr. AHM Moinul Ahsan, among others, were present.
