One held with 11 gold bars at Benapole

BENAPOLE, Jan 21 (UNB): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a suspected gold smuggler along with 11 piece of gold bars weighing 110 tola along Daulatpur bordering area here on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Babul Hossain, 32, son of Abul Hossain of Daulatpur village.
Being tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and arrested Babul while he was crossing the border for going to India in the morning, said Commanding officer of BGB-23 Lieutenant Colonel Abdur Rahim.
Later, the BGB members recovered 11 gold bars after searching him.
Babul had long been involved in gold smuggling to the neighbouring country, he said.
A case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station in this connection.
