One killed, six including 4 cops hurt in road crash

One person was killed and four others, including a RAB member, were injured as a night coach collided with a truck at Purana Paltan crossing in the city early Tuesday, reports UNB.

It could not be confirmed immediately whether the victim identified as Enamul Haque, (35), son of Ansar Ali of Kariyadia village under Gumastapur Upazila in Chapainawabganj, was a passenger of vehicle or a pedestrian.

Police, quoting witnesses, said a night coach of Hanif Parabahan hit a boundary wall of a nearby house at Paltan crossing after it collided with a truck at about 2:20am.

Five people, including Enamul received injuries.

They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Enamul was pronounced dead, said Sub-inspector Wahiduzzaman of Paltan Thana.

Among the rest injured, three left the hospital after taking first aid while another, a Rapid Action Battalion member, was undergoing treatment at the hospital, added the SI.

Meanwhile, six people, including four policemen, were injured as a bus crashed into a human hauler carrying them in the city's Rampura area early Tuesday.

 The injured were identified as assistant sub-inspector Ashim Kumar Biswas, constables Momin, Mobarak and Shah Alam, Ansar member Rafiqul and human hauler driver Sagar. The four cops are members of Badda Thana.

Police said the accident took place when the bus hit the vehicle carrying a patrol team of police at Rampura Bridge crossing around 3:40am, leaving the six injured.

The injured people were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
