One to die, 6 get life for murder in Dhamrai

A Dhaka tribunal sentenced on Sunday a man to death and six others to life term imprisonment for killing a man in 2012, reports UNB.

The condemned convict was identified as Abdur Rashid of Char Chouhat  village in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district. He was tried in absentia.

The lifers are-Rafiqul Hasan Moksed, the incumbent chairman of Chouhat union parishad, Biplob, Siddiqur Rahman, Manir, Asaduzzaman Asad and Rajon. Of them, Biplob and Rajon were tried in absentia.

The court also fined the lifers TK 20,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more rigorous imprisonment.
