Speakers at a seminar on "Open Data for Open Government" Tuesday underscored the need for opening data of government and private sector for everyone to access, reuse and redistribute without restrictions, reports BSS.
If data is open for all it would not only ensure accountability and transparency but also contribute to economic growth and prosperity, they told the seminar organised by Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) in Dhaka.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder said a significant development has taken place after the introduction of Right to Information Act, 2009 that has ensured people's right to information. "The government has proved its sincerity to open its information to the people," he said.
The ICT secretary laid emphasis on developing data based on objectivity so that people could get the real and correct data from the providers.
