Worldwide development agency Oxfam's Chief Executive Mark Goldring will arrive in the city today (Saturday) on a three-day visit to Bangladesh, reports UNB.
During the visit, Goldring is expected to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to express his sincere thanks on behalf of Oxfam for awarding the 'Friends of Liberation War' for its role in 1971.
He will also meet the representatives of donor organisations and will visit the activities of Oxfam's ongoing programmes in Rangpur, Abdul Quayyum, media and communication coordinator at Oxfam in Bangladesh, told UNB.
Mark Goldring became chief executive of Oxfam Great Britain in May 2013. As chief executive, he brings the issues faced by the world's poorest people to a global stage, meeting high level government and business leaders to influence them to act against the causes of poverty.
He also provides leadership for Oxfam's programmes across the world, as well as to its 5,000 staff and thousands of volunteers in the UK and overseas.
Goldring has decades of experience within international development, as chief executive of VSO; in the field for the United Nations Development Programme and the UK Department for International Development and as Oxfam's country director in Bangladesh in the early 1990s.
