Seventeen persons were killed and many others injured in separate incidents in different places of the country during the last two days, report agencies.

In Jhenidah, a motorcycle rider was killed in a road accident on the Jhenidah-Jessore Highway at Laudea of Sadar Upazila in the district Saturday. The deceased was identified as Humayun Kabir Totul.

In Netrakona, three young men were killed by lightening in two villages of Durgapur and Madan upazilas under Netrakona district during the last 24 hours ending at Monday afternoon.

In Chittagong, a group of miscreants stabbed a Union Parishad chairman near his home at Khagaria Union under Satkania upazila of the district Friday night.

In Sirajganj, a minor girl drowned in a pond at Ghoragachha village in Kazipur upazila Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, an old man and a housewife allegedly committed suicide at Hamkuria and Jagathgati villages in Sadar Upazila early Sunday.

In Hamkuria village an octogenarian man allegedly committed suicide by taking poison following a family feud.

In Jagathgati village, Hosne Ara wife of Abdur Rahman allegedly took her own life by taking pesticide.

In Sherpur, a baby girl drowned at Bajupara village in Nalitabari Upazila Sunday morning.

In Sylhet, two minor girls drowned in a pond at Chandai Majhpara village in Surma Upazila Saturday noon.

Meanwhile, Seji Begum daughter of Kabir Uddin of Dattarail village in Golapganj upazila, allegedly committed suicide by taking poison Saturday night. The police said Seji took pesticides at night as her parents rebuked her for a minor offence.

In Nilphamari, a man was killed and 10 others were injured in a bloody clash between two rival groups at Dangapara village in Sadar upazila Saturday night.

In Jhalakati, a sexagenarian woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house due to abject poverty at Nikaripara village in Nalchhiti upazila Saturday night.

In Bhola, a severe thunderstorm tore through Nil Kamal Union in Bhola Monday morning, leaving three people dead and four injured in the village of Char Nurul Amin.
