FE Report
Seven members of a gang of passport forgers were arrested from an office in city's Banani area Tuesday, detective police said.
They also recovered 1,357 counterfeit passports and a number of bogus seals of various government departments in the raid at Kisuwa Enterprise Ltd at House No-16, Block-F, Road No-4 in the city's posh Banani area.
On a tip off, a team of DB (detective branch) police raided the private office Tuesday noon and arrested Anwar Hossain, 39, Ferdous Alam Firoz, 32, Ismail Hossain, 36, Alamgir Hossain, 25, Shukur Ali, 35, AKM Zia Uddin Faruk, 28 and Alauddin, 59.
"They were arrested on the charge of cheating people," a DB official told the FE.
"Hunt for two ringleaders of the gang Suman and Razib is on in the city," he added.
He said the gang was engaged in counterfeiting and fraudulently renewing the validity of passports by using fake seals for a long time and also depriving the exchequer of millions of taka all these years.
