Pay commission for health insurance of govt employees

The pay commission will propose to the government to bring the government employees under a comprehensive health insurance scheme to ensure their proper treatment.
The employees will get treatment, accident and death coverage and their family members will get healthcare services under the insurance scheme. For this every employee will get a health card.
Pay commission chairman Muhammad Farashuddin informed health minister Mohammad Nasim about the initiative Wednesday during a meeting at the health ministry.
The government employees will draw their treatment fees with monthly salaries as it was followed. Besides, the government will deposit a specific amount of insurance premium in a specific fund every month. The employees will enjoy the benefit from this fund like the staff welfare fund, the chairman informed.
The commission chairman also requested the minister to allow the government employees having a health card receive treatment on a priority basis.
Mr Nasim assured the pay commission chairman of taking necessary steps in this regard. He informed that the government has taken initiative to introduce health insurance for the poor people. In the mean time, a pilot project has been running on health insurance for the poor community, garment workers and government employees in the three upazilas of Tangail.
