People block Dhaka-Munshiganj road for nonstop gas supply

NARAYANGANJ, Dec 20 (UNB): Gas starved people Sunday blockaded Dhaka-Munshiganj road for about six hours demanding uninterrupted gas supply in Sadar Upazila.
People of Kashipur, Masdaur and Hatkhola under Fatulla thana staged the demonstration and put up a barricade at Kashipur at about 7:00 am, disrupting traffic for several hours.
On information, police, local administration and officials of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company rushed to the spot. But, they failed to bring the situation under control.
Later, the demonstrators removed the barricade at about 1:30 pm following the assurance of nonstop gas supply by the local administration.
Tension mounted in the area due to acute shortage of gas supply for the last few months.
