Performance audit for COVID-19 Vaccine Recovery Project launched

The government has initiated a comprehensive performance audit for the "Responsive COVID-19 Vaccine for Recovery Project" under the Asia Pacific Access Facility (APVAX).
This audit, scheduled for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, will assess the efficiency and compliance of vaccine-related recovery operations across multiple districts.
On Jan 20, the director general (DG) of the Foreign Aided Projects Audit Directorate issued an order to begin the audit process.
A high-level, six-member team has been formed to carry out the audit under Sector-02. The team will be led by Nazrul Islam Majumdar, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer, who will serve as the team leader.
The audit programme is set to run from January 21 to March 31, 2026, with visits to key health directorates and Civil Surgeon offices in districts such as Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet, covering critical health administrative hubs.
Additionally, the team is scheduled to visit regional offices, including the Ministry of Health, Finance Division, IEDCR, EPI, and the APVAX Directorate.
The directive emphasises strict operational protocols to ensure that the audit adheres to international standards.
Auditors will be required to prepare detailed working papers, focus on high-risk areas identified in the approved Audit Plan, gather evidence to support audit findings, including legal references and clear determination of responsibility.
They must follow the Performance Audit Guidelines and the Project Audit Manual. The team is expected to submit the final report to the DG within 20 working days.
