LAXMIPUR, Dec 21 (UNB): Pirates killed one fisherman and injured four others during piracy in a fishing trawler in Meghna river near Char Lorence under Ramgati Upazila Saturday.
Local fishermen said a gang of pirates numbering 10/12 armed with country-made weapons, swooped on the trawler of Faruk Majhi in the afternoon.
They stabbed the fishermen of the trawler indiscriminately leaving Monir Hossain (25), dead on the spot and injuring four others. Later, the bandits took away fishing nets and other valuables.
